Epac want Pres Cup fixture revised

Epac have taken to task the Presidential Cup organising committee over their round of 16 qualifying fixture against Silver Strikers.

This follows the committee’s move to reschedule the game to Friday after it was postponed last Saturday due to national team commitments.

Apparently, the winner of the match is scheduled to face defending champions Big Bullets in a quarter-final qualifying match two days later, on Sunday.

“We are not amused with how FAM is handling the issue because any team that wins on Friday will be at a disadvantage as they will have to play another game two days later. This is not fair.

“This will benefit Bullets because they will be fresh. It was not our wish that the match be postponed last Saturday,” said Epac general secretary Roy Abromo Mdechi on Monday.

However, FAM competitions officer Gomezgani Zakazaka dismissed Epac’s fears.

“Epac’s argument is not convincing enough because even in the Super League, they play two games within 48 hours and, therefore, why should it be a problem for them to play on a Friday, rest on a Saturday and then play again on Sunday?” said Zakazaka.
